  • US non-farm payrolls advanced 157,000 in July after an upwardly revised 248,000 increase in June; the unemployment rate edged down to 3.9% in July from 4% in June.
  • US initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 1,000 to a seasonally adjusted 218,000 for the week ended July 28.
  • US initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 9,000 to a seasonally adjusted 217,000 for the week ended July 21.

  • Tyson Foods to buy Keystone Foods for $2.16 bn in cash.
